Looking for a fun place to pick apples that isn’t 45 minutes away? Then this is your place! Hermans Farm located in St. Charles, MO packs a lot of fun into their small farm.
Attractions include a castle playground, ride-on pedal powered tractors, an area to dig and dump with gravel and toy dump trucks, a hayride around the whole farm and an apple orchard accessible just across the parking lot from the playground.
The apple orchard is fairly small, so I am not sure how long they will have apples to pick, but I liked that it was accessible just by walking across the parking lot vs. taking a hayride to/from the orchard. (Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy the traditional hayride, but I was short on time so this was perfect)
The kids play area was full of fun! Bonus, there is a large covered area with picnic tables that makes a great snack spot.
So you are bummed we weren’t going to get your traditional hayride, have no fear! There is a hayride that takes you all around the farm. The boys all had fun! There is a great photo opp spot at the start/end of the ride with hay bale seats and a corn stalk backdrop.
There is also a market with veggies and fruit, including bags of already picked apples with some you can’t find in the public orchard including Honey Crisp and Fuji. They also have pumpkins and other fall decorations.
Pricing for the apple orchard is as follows:
$10 minimum to pick apples. This gets you either two small bags or one larger bag. They are currently picking Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Jonathan, Red Empire and their Enterprise apples.
$20 minimum to play on the playground, ride on tractors, digging area, etc. However, this minimum can be reached by your group. So if you have two families in your party, you each will only need to spend $10.
