Have you ever checked this place out?!?! Its mind-blowing to me that I never knew of this place before 6-9 months ago! I mean I have lived here all my life…come on!
So this place is so much fun for kids to learn all about nature, animals, the eco system, etc. This two-story building has a lot to explore. Upstairs there is everything from turtles in aquariums, to puppets, to bees in an actual beehive, a natural viewing area to watch turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks, etc. There is also a reading room and a treehouse with areas to explore and a scary surprise in the floor (eek! Snake!)
Downstairs there is an area focused on our water systems including rivers and the fish that live in them, an area about hunting, exhibits on various animals found nearby, hear real bear sounds and touch real bear poop and much more. There is also an area where you can smell various smells…I highly suggest avoiding smelling it yourself unless you want some of those not so pleasant smells to stick with you all day…yuck! 🙂
I have found that my 18 month old really enjoys this place, while my 3.5 year old got a little burnt out on it. However, it’s all free, so come stay as long as you like and then venture outside and take a walk along one of the many trails. If you are lucky, you may even get to see some people learning how to repel a tree!
